We are delighted to announce that Jayson’s debut album with ABC Classics and Universal Music Australia has charted at number 1 in the Classical and Classical Crossover charts. A phenomenal success knocking long term chart favourite Andre Rieu from the number 1 spot.

This achievement coincides with Jayson’s acclaimed tour across Australia. With rave reviews for both recital performances and orchestral performances , most recently with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra and Maestro Ashkenazy.

The next generation of performers were on prominent display this week, first in Jayson Gillham’s lyrically restrained performance of Beethoven’s Fourth Piano Concerto with conductor, Vladimir Ashkenazy, and the SSO and then with the uncannily accomplished Beilman and Tyson violin and piano duo from Musica Viva.

Gillham’s playing is smooth, clear and polished and in the first movement he focused on the melodic line and legato playing to produce a dreamy, though occasionally undynamic effect.

The Concert Hall was almost full for this wonderful performance of sheer musicality by the Sydney Symphony Orchestra with conductor Vladimir Ashkenazy and pianist Jayson Gillham.

Ashkenazy is well known and much loved by the local audience thanks to his tenure as Principal Conductor of the SSO from 2009 to 2013.  There is also a depth of understanding between him and the majority of the orchestra who were in residence during that period.  They know the nuances of his eclectic conducting and respond well to his gestural style.

Vladimir Ashkenazy’s Beethoven celebration with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra continues on apace after a six-month break, the final three instalments featuring a pair of fine piano soloists, and culminating in the mighty Ninth in a couple of weeks’ time. The drawcards in this “Beethoven Heroic” concert were, of course, the ever-remarkable Eroica Symphony, but also a welcome appearance in the Fourth Piano Concerto by young Australian pianist Jayson Gillham, a much-talked about rising star whose performance of the work won him the Montreal International Music Competition a couple of years ago.

INTERNATIONAL pianist Jayson Gillham hails from Dalby and is coming home to kick off his Australian tour.

Mr Gillham now lives in London and has gained a reputation for his compelling and elegant performances.

He performs with the world’s leading orchestras and conductors with recent and future highlights including concerto performances with London Philharmonic, Sydney Symphony, Vladimir Ashkenazy and Melbourne Symphony.
