London-based Australian pianist Jayson Gillham showed why his career has flourished in recent years, playing with a beautiful bell-like tone, a great sense of expressive lyricism, and virtuosity. Gillham joined members of the Tinalley quartet and Andrew Sinclair on bass for an edge-of-the-seat Trout Quintet.

Beethoven Piano Concerto No. 4 with Maestro Asher Fisch and the Nashville Symphony Orchestra
Written by Christopher Robson, Friday 18th March 2016
Jayson gave three performances of Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 4 with the Nashville Symphony under the baton of Maestro Asher Fisch. A review in a local paper gives a vivid account of the reaction to his performance.
The highlight of the performance, for my money, was Gillham’s performance of Beethoven’s magnificent Piano Concerto No. 4 in G major. Tall, lanky with a thick top of sandy brown hair, the 29-year-old Gillham looks like a young Van ... Read more
First Prize Montreal International Musical Competition
Written by Jayson, Thursday 5th June 2014
Dear Friends and Readers,
What a roller-coaster these last two weeks have been! From the earth-quake Tremblements set piece to the glorious strains of Beethoven’s Fourth Concerto coming from my left from the Montreal Symphony. It was such a joy to play with these wonderful musicians who clearly love their music and love working with young soloists.
Our conductor Giancarlo Guerrero was an absolute star – he knew these concertos so well and I’ve never felt so comfortable on stage after only a 50-minute dress rehearsal. Guerrero is youthful and vibrant, a sensitive accompanist and many were saying that he is the best ... Read more
Review - Melbourne Symphony - Beethoven Concerto No. 2
Written by Jayson, Wednesday 19th March 2014
This review by Peter Williams just in from ClassicMelbourne.com.au:
The MSO Prom Season began at the Melbourne Town Hall with a packed, eager and mostly young audience. Whether it was the earlier time, the interesting programs, the cheaper seats, or the informal nature of Proms, (one audience member said that it was the least confusing choice of subscriptions) it worked in delivering a good audience for an immensely enjoyable concert.
Red downlights picked out the pipes of the organ behind the large orchestra and the program began with Eddie Perfect introducing the series, the conductor and the ... Read more
Wigmore Hall recital 27 January 2014
Written by Jayson, Monday 27th January 2014
Ludwig van Beethoven (1770-1827)
Rondo in C major, Op. 51 No. 1 (c. 1796, possibly earlier, first published 1797)
Moderato e grazioso
Rondo in G major, Op. 51 No. 2 (c. 1798, first published 1802)
Andante cantabile e grazioso
The period between Beethoven’s relocation from Bonn to Vienna in 1792 and roughly 1802 is generally seen as the consolidation of his early style or ‘first maturity’. On arrival in Vienna he studied composition with Haydn, and the oft-quoted prophecy by Count von Waldstein that Beethoven was to ‘receive the spirit of Mozart from the hands of Haydn’ is rightly famous, because ...
