The Joy of Piano - Sound Unbound, London

On Sunday 19th May I will be performing in London's Sound Unbound Festival, a weekend festival of over 100 concerts and 500 performers that releases classical music from its traditional confines and presents the fresh face of classical with the aim of developing new audiences.

My programme is called The Joy of Piano and for it I have selected some very favourite works of mine that explore different facets of joy - playful, ebullient, blessed, contented and ecstatic are all adjectives that come to mind when I think of this programme. It's also a programme of compassion, kindness and humility as I feel that we can always do with reminding ourselves of what beauty there is in this world and sharing that with others, with a smile!

What is Sound Unbound?

Sound Unbound, 'a festival of unexpected sounds in unexpected places', is presented by the Barbican Centre and Culture Mile and takes place over 18th and 19th May. Some notes about the festival:

• All sessions are for all ages and free to attend, with the audience encouraged to dip in and out of sessions across the day.

• The audience are encouraged to take photos / videos and to use their mobile phones for social media purposes during the sessions and tweet about their experiences on #SoundUnbound

• For most sessions you can also bring in drinks
